Just because I'm a fighter, it doesn't mean the blows don't hurt.
But now I come to think of it, it's no less than I deserve.

Just because I hit him, it doesn't mean his face won't be fine.
But every time I do so, I glance his blows aloft from mine.

Just because I can bob the hook and break his jaw up on the weave, does this mean I'm a better man? I don't think so,
I don't know.

Was it because he fell that I hesistated to land the sting, or perhaps the strings of blood that stayed my arm as
he came back at me?

Perhaps as I descended I thought I would let him win, I felt my strength dwindling but I stood up ready again to begin.

We fight becuase we are the men with peeling posters of Ali on the wall, we fight because when we where kids
we would be watching from the stalls.

Just because we are fighters, it doesn't mean the blows don't sting.
But now we come to think of it, to the crowds that means nothing.

Just something I thought up whilst looking at a pic of Sonny Liston and Ali fight.
